Mid-Week Reset
Lately, my go to steady book has been The Secret Life of Bees by Sue Monk Kidd.
There’s something about sitting inside someone else’s story midweek that reminds me mine is still unfolding too.
Tools I Use:

There are evenings when the week has been full. Not dramatic, just full. This is the small pause between what has already been asked of you and what still remains. You don’t have to solve the rest of the week tonight. You only have to sit for a moment.
❋ Core Practice
❋ Soften the Room
Turn off the overhead lights. Light an oil lamp. Or use a lamp. Let the room quiet down.
❋ Open a Book
One that feels steady. Not self-help. Not strategy. A story.
❋ Optional Touches
A soft blanket across your lap
A familiar chair
A quiet corner
A porch or stoop if you have one and weather permits
These are not requirements. The pause midweek is enough.
❋ Pour Something Warm
Sleepytime tea works well mid-week. Or hot cocoa.
❋ Read Without Urgency
Let the tea or cocoa cool. Let the light stay low. Let yourself sit between chapters of your own week. Stay as long as you need. Or close the book when you feel steady.
